Baghdad: Spain called for an international arms embargo on Israel to end the war and humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. Spanish Foreign Minister Jos© Manuel Albarez said, “We must all agree on a joint arms embargo… The last thing the Middle East needs right now is weapons.” He called for an immediate suspension of the EU Israel Association Agreement, as well as targeted sanctions against individuals obstructing the two-state solution.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Albarez stressed that sanctions should be imposed on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, if necessary. Earlier, Albarez said, “We must consider sanctions, in the very short term, to stop this pointless war and to deliver humanitarian aid on a large scale, without interference, and in a neutral manner, so that Israel does not decide who can receive food and who cannot.”
