Washington: US President Donald Trump has raised alarms over Israel’s potential military actions against Iran’s nuclear sites, cautioning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a recent phone call. Trump expressed that any such move could jeopardize the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a US official disclosed that both Trump and his senior officials are apprehensive about Netanyahu’s possible decision to launch an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. They emphasized that Trump is keen on reaching a diplomatic resolution with Iran and is wary of any actions that might disrupt this goal. The official highlighted Trump’s message to Netanyahu, urging restraint and stressing that this is not the appropriate time to escalate tensions as diplomatic efforts are underway.

On the Iranian side, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has taken steps to address Israel’s threats by reaching out to international bodies. Last Thursday, Araqchi sent letters to UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres, the President of the Security Council, and the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In his correspondence, Araqchi condemned Israel’s threats to attack Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, labeling it a danger to regional and global peace and security. He urged the UN Security Council to respond decisively to these threats and called on the IAEA to investigate and publicly denounce them to maintain its credibility.

Furthermore, Israeli sources have previously leaked information about Israel’s readiness to conduct a swift strike on Iran’s nuclear sites if diplomatic talks fail. This revelation came just a day before the commencement of the fifth round of US-Iran negotiations.
