Environment Minister Helu Al-Askari Highlights Need for Enhanced Cooperation with Iran on Environmental Challenges


Baghdad: Environment Minister Helu Al-Askari emphasized the significance of strengthening environmental collaboration with Iran to tackle shared environmental issues during a meeting on Tuesday.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Environment released a statement indicating that Environment Minister Helu Al-Askari hosted the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadiq. The discussions focused on Iraq’s commitment to bolstering cooperation with Iran in addressing environmental challenges such as dust storms, desertification, and the water crisis.



Al-Askari underlined the importance of joint efforts in environmental training and awareness, as well as the benefits of learning from Iranian experiences. He emphasized the necessity of collaborative actions to ensure a sustainable environmental future that benefits both nations.



The Iranian Ambassador, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadiq, reciprocated by expressing Iran’s eagerness to enhance cooperation with Iraq across various sectors, including environmental initiatives, to promote sustainable development.
