Mosul: The Iraqi government has officially taken control of the building previously occupied by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) in Mosul. Government Spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi announced this development, marking a significant step in the plan to conclude UNAMI’s operations in Iraq by the end of the year.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Awadi elaborated that this transition is part of an agreement between the Iraqi government and the United Nations. The agreement outlines the takeover of all remaining buildings occupied by the UN mission. The government acknowledged the substantial contributions made by UNAMI during its tenure in Iraq and expressed appreciation for the mission’s cooperation in the closure plan.

Al-Awadi also emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with United Nations development and humanitarian agencies that continue their operations in Iraq. The government is committed to working closely with these agencies to ensure ongoing support and development within the country.
