Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi received the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Elbrus Kotrashev, and his accompanying delegation at his guest house on Wednesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on discussions about local developments and broader regional and international matters. Both parties explored various topics and issues of mutual interest, underscoring the importance of their bilateral relationship.

Al-Mandalawi highlighted the deep-rooted ties between Iraq and Russia, stressing the necessity to enhance cooperation in fields such as security, energy, economy, and investment. He also advocated for stronger parliamentary relations between the two nations to facilitate the exchange of legislative expertise and strengthen legal and diplomatic collaboration.

Additionally, Al-Mandalawi urged major powers to exert pressure on the Zionist entity to cease its acts of genocide against the Palestinian people, aiming to foster stability and security in the Middle East.
