Basra: The head of the Security Committee in the Basra Provincial Council, Aqeel Talib Al-Furaiji, revealed that the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Directorate carried out two security operations over the past two days, resulting in the dismantling of two drug trafficking networks, one local and the other international.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Furaiji explained in a press statement: “The two operations resulted in the seizure of one kilogram of crystal, in addition to a number of weapons, suspects, and dealers classified as dangerous elements, within the scope of the Anti-Narcotics Division in Basra.”
He pointed out that another group was arrested in Al-Qibla area, and assault rifles, an RPG launcher, pistols, and tools used in drug use were seized from them. He emphasized the continuation of security efforts to pursue criminal networks and dry up the sources of drugs in the governorate.
