Moscow: Officials said on Wednesday that Russian air defenses destroyed or intercepted 112 Ukrainian drones in various regions of Russia, including a squadron that was intercepted while en route to Moscow.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that “the attacks occurred between 9 p.m. and midnight Moscow time,” noting that 59 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region on the Ukrainian border, while the others were intercepted in five different regions.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin communicated via Telegram that air defenses intercepted 27 Ukrainian drones as they were en route to the Russian capital. He indicated that the Defense Ministry’s air defense units continue to repel attacks by enemy drones and mentioned that rescue crews are examining debris on the ground.

The governor of the Bryansk region reported no casualties from the attacks, though a house and six cars sustained damage. In the Smolensk region, near the Polish border, the governor reported the downing of 11 drones, with no casualties.

A statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense detailed that from 9:00 PM Moscow time on May 27 to 00:00 AM on May 28, air defense systems on duty successfully destroyed and intercepted a total of 112 Ukrainian drones.
