UN Representative Stresses Importance of Governance and Transparency for Economic Health


Baghdad: The United Nations Mission in Iraq has emphasized that good governance and transparency are crucial pillars of a productive, interactive, and sound economy. This assertion underscores the commitment to establishing a robust economic framework in the region.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the UN Secretary-General’s Representative in Iraq, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Hassan, highlighted these points during his address at the second session of the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism Conference, which commenced today in the capital, Baghdad. Ambassador Al-Hassan urged for the strengthening of partnerships with international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. These collaborations aim to build national capacities that can earn the trust of international entities, thereby enhancing Iraq’s economic standing on a global scale.
