Moscow: Iraq and Russia stressed the importance of continuing cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and exchanging information.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisory stated that Advisor Qasim al-Araji met in Moscow with the Secretary of the Russian National Security Council, Sergei Shoigu.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 13th International Meeting of Senior Officials Responsible for Security Issues, held in the Russian capital. Discussions centered on bilateral relations between Iraq and Russia and explored ways to strengthen them across various levels.

Shoigu highlighted the significance of the upcoming Arab-Russian summit scheduled for next October, emphasizing its potential outcomes to enhance security and stability in the region. Al-Araji relayed greetings from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to the Russian leadership, underscoring the critical importance of continued cooperation, particularly in counterterrorism and information exchange.

The Russian side expressed a firm commitment to expanding strategic communications between the Iraqi National Security Council and the Russian National Security Council. They also noted the necessity of organizing a series of reciprocal meetings to bolster bilateral relations and serve the interests of both nations and their citizens.
