Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi affirmed that Iraq views France as a reliable partner within the framework of enduring friendship. During his meeting with the heads and representatives of major French companies to discuss opportunities for their participation and increased presence in Iraq, al-Zaidi highlighted the importance of the historical relations between the two countries. He emphasized that Iraq considers France a trusted partner within the framework of enduring friendship and that Iraq needs strategic partners.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Zaidi welcomed visits from French companies interested in investing in Iraq. During the meeting, the Prime Minister announced an agreement with French President Emmanuel Macron to prepare for the Baghdad-Paris Conference in Baghdad. He affirmed Iraq’s commitment to increasing its crude oil production capacity from 4.8 million barrels per day to 10 million barrels per day, along with accompanying projects for the production, extraction, and inve
stment of associated gas. He also noted the availability of other mineral resources open to investment and expanded extraction, such as sulfur, phosphates, silica, and petrochemicals, in addition to infrastructure projects.

Al-Zaydi highlighted the Strategic Development Road project and its global importance as a vital pathway for strengthening economic integration and facilitating smooth supply chains. He reviewed the extensive investment opportunities in various sectors, including the economy, energy, industry, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and railways, among others. He emphasized that the government will provide all necessary support, facilities, and a conducive investment environment, welcoming visits from French companies interested in investing in Iraq.
