According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command stated in a statement: “In one of the most prominent security operations, the Basra Crime Control Department, under the direct supervision of Basra Police Commander Major General Latif Abdul-Ridha Al-Saad, dismantled a dangerous criminal gang that specialized in stealing motorcycles and homes.”

The statement added: “The operation witnessed an armed confrontation and exchange of gunfire with a wanted gang member, who had previously opened fire on rescue and intelligence units and fled. He was arrested and the situation brought under control without any injuries.”

For his part, the Basra Police Commander stressed that targeting crime hotbeds and pursuing wanted individuals is a top priority, praising the efforts of the Crime Control Department and the precision with which it carries out its duties.
