Washington: The White House announced that the United States has sent to Iran a proposal for a nuclear agreement between the two countries, in a move aimed at easing the existing tension.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian confirmed that he received the terms of a US agreement presented to him by his Omani counterpart, Badr Al-Busaidi, during a short visit to the capital, Tehran.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt commented in a statement, saying that it is “in Tehran’s interest to accept this agreement,” stressing that “President Trump has made clear that Iran can never obtain a nuclear bomb.” She also indicated that the US President’s Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, had sent a “detailed and acceptable” proposal to the Iranian side.

In response to this move, the Iranian Foreign Minister wrote on the X platform (formerly Twitter) that the American proposal “will be responded to appropriately, in line with the principles, national interests, and rights of the Iranian people.”
