Baghdad: MP for the Sadiqoun bloc, Ahmed al-Moussawi, confirmed on Sunday that the House of Representatives will proceed with withdrawing confidence from the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) after questioning him regarding a number of sensitive issues, most notably issues related to appointments and terminated contracts, which were manipulated by the PMF leadership.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Moussawi stated on the bloc’s website that certain political parties, which he did not name, have deliberately removed the PMF law from the parliamentary agenda to obstruct its passage. He noted that these same parties are currently attempting to prevent the procedures necessary to withdraw confidence from the PMF head, motivated by partisan and personal interests.

Al-Moussawi expressed concern that some political parties are exploiting the PMF’s capabilities for election campaigns, warning of the potential risks of involving the PMF in political and electoral conflicts. He emphasized the importance of keeping the Popular Mobilization Forces independent from political and electoral matters to maintain its national role and integrity.
