Al-Sudani Calls for Strengthened Iraq-US Cooperation Based on Strategic Framework Agreement


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between Iraq and the United States, grounded in the Strategic Framework Agreement and various memoranda of understanding. This call for collaboration was made during a meeting with Steven Fagin, the newly appointed Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy, as he assumed his duties.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani extended his congratulations to Fagin, expressing his hopes for Fagin’s success in his role. He highlighted the significance of fostering relations that would yield mutual benefits and serve the interests of both nations. Al-Sudani underscored the necessity of collaboration, particularly in the areas of economy, investment, security, energy, education, and private sector initiatives.



In response, Fagin acknowledged the value of the bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States. He reiterated the US government’s commitment to supporting partnerships across various sectors. Fagin commended the Iraqi government’s efforts to spur development and urban growth, and emphasized the importance of involving American companies in Iraq’s investment landscape.
