Al-Sudani Directs Removal of Obstacles in Tax Reform Process

sacBaghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani issued a number of directives regarding tax reform during his visit to the General Tax Authority on Monday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani directed the removal of all obstacles impeding the tax reform process. He also instructed the Higher Committee for Tax Reform to prepare standardized designs for model buildings for the Authority and its branches across Iraq, with the Ministry of Finance tasked with allocating the necessary land. Al-Sudani highlighted weaknesses in addressing the reform packages developed by the Higher Committee for Tax Reform.

The Prime Minister also called for specialized, reputable international companies to submit proposals related to the comprehensive tax system. Additionally, he directed the Higher Authority for Coordination between Governorates to allocate technical staff, engineers, and specialists in tax issues to work in the branches of tax units in the governorates.

Al-Sudani tasked the Ministry of Communications with completing the networking of the General Tax Authority and its branches to facilitate tax accounting. He also directed the resolution of all employee-related issues to remove any obstacles to the Authority’s work.
