Baghdad: The Chairman of the Federal Integrity Commission, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, has made a firm commitment to preventing the misuse of public funds in the upcoming parliamentary election campaigns. He emphasized the importance of enhancing transparency and integrity throughout the electoral process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Lami, during a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission, detailed plans to form field teams in Baghdad and other governorates. These teams will collaborate with the Commission to verify the integrity of electoral procedures and ensure that public resources are not being exploited for campaign purposes.

Al-Lami also addressed issues related to the eligibility of candidates, stating that individuals covered by the general amnesty law and subject to judicial decisions would not be allowed to run for elections. He warned against the misuse of executive positions for electoral gains and urged the Commi
ssion to remind party leaders and founders to submit financial disclosure statements through its Department of Political Parties and Organizations Affairs.

Additionally, Al-Lami highlighted that the Commission would actively monitor the sources of party funding and their expenditures, as permitted by its governing law.

Judge Omar Ahmed Mohamed, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, expressed his support for the Integrity Commission’s initiative. He assured full cooperation with the Commission and appreciated its efforts to promote transparency, protect public funds, and oversee the electoral activities of political parties and candidates.
