Kirkuk: The Chairman of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Hafedh, confirmed that Romania has shown interest in expanding its investments in the province, particularly in the agricultural sector, noting the importance of strengthening academic cooperation between Iraqi and Romanian universities. Al-Hafedh stated that the Romanian Ambassador to Iraq, Anerado Octavian Dobre, visited Kirkuk to discuss enhancing joint cooperation in the fields of economy, agriculture, and investment.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hafedh explained that the visit aims to open up prospects for joint cooperation in various sectors that will serve the citizens of the province and strengthen bilateral relations in line with the federal government’s directives to support the Iraqi economy in several areas, including investment. He elaborated that the Romanian Ambassador expressed his country’s companies’ desire to develop the agricultural sector in Kirkuk, as it is one of the most important agricultural regions in Iraq.

Al-Hafedh highlighted that Romania has achieved significant progress in the agricultural sector, and it is possible to benefit from Romanian expertise to support the Iraqi agricultural sector. He emphasized the importance of Romanian companies participating in investment projects that suit the governorate’s nature in several important economic areas. The Ambassador also praised the urban development in the governorate and the work achieved in recent years.
