Baghdad: Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, General Qais al-Muhammadawi, engaged in discussions with a French military delegation to explore joint cooperation and enhance mutual coordination. The French delegation was led by Lieutenant General Eric Peltier, Deputy Director-General of the French Directorate-General for International Relations and Strategy, and Lieutenant General Cedric Godelier, Deputy Secretary-General of the French General Secretariat for National Defense. The meeting, which took place in General al-Muhammadawi’s office, was attended by staff from the Joint Operations Command.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions focused on topics of mutual interest, with a significant emphasis on increasing bilateral cooperation between Iraq and France. General al-Muhammadawi commended France for its support of the Iraqi security forces, particularly during their efforts against the terrorist ISIS groups. He acknowledged France’s contributions to training and capacity-building initiatives for Iraqi security personnel.

The French delegation, in turn, expressed appreciation for the efforts of Iraqi security forces in combating the remnants of ISIS. They emphasized the importance of strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to enhancing security collaboration and reinforcing strategic ties.
