Baghdad: Secretary-General of the Generations Gathering, MP Mohammed Saadoun Al-Sayhoud, has criticized the Regional Government for its unwillingness to localize employees’ salaries and for managing the people’s revenues independently from the Central Government.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sayhoud stated in a press release that the Kurdish people should hold their government accountable for the revenues, the purpose of which remains unclear. He highlighted that the revenues meant to be delivered to Iraq were not transferred, and the regional government, in turn, has refused to localize employee salaries.

Al-Sayhoud emphasized that there is no negligence from the Baghdad government towards the region and described the threat of severing relations with Baghdad as unacceptable. He argued that the regional authorities should not engage in policies that strain relations, asserting that the central government is robust, supported by its people and the constitution. Furthermore, he noted that the government has shown humanity on several occasions but cannot maintain the same stance regarding constitutional and legal violations.

He further criticized all contracts made by the regional government with the United States and other countries, stating that such agreements should be exclusively conducted through the central government. Al-Sayhoud stressed that while the region is federal, it remains part of Iraq and must adhere to the national system, law, and constitution, and not operate independently of the central authority.
