Belgrade: The International Conference on Preparations for Expo Belgrade 2027 commenced today in the Serbian capital with the participation of delegations from over 160 countries, including Iraq. The country aims to make a significant impact at this global event.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iraq was represented by an official delegation headed by Mohammed Hanoun Karim, Deputy Director General of the Iraqi Exhibitions Company at the Ministry of Trade and Head of the Iraqi delegation. Karim highlighted that Iraq’s involvement in the conference is supported by the Iraqi government and the Ministry of Trade, aiming to project a positive image of Iraq in international forums and to reinforce its presence on the global economic and cultural stage.

Hanoun expressed Iraq’s intention to present a comprehensive national pavilion that reflects its rich heritage and showcases its aspirations in economic, cultural, and investment areas. He pointed out that participating in Expo Belgrade 2027 offers a valuable opportunity to boost international collaboration and draw global attention to investment possibilities in Iraq.

The opening day of the conference included an overview of the organizational plans for the Expo, featuring a presentation of the exhibition site and the infrastructure developments underway in Belgrade. The Iraqi delegation engaged in several technical sessions with other delegations, discussing strategies for pavilion design and the organization of accompanying cultural and commercial programs.

The statement from the Ministry of Trade also emphasized Iraq’s dedication to forming effective partnerships with participating countries and organizations. Iraq aims to leverage international expertise in managing and executing major events, thereby enhancing its preparedness to participate in the Expo according to top international standards. Expo Belgrade 2027 stands as one of the most significant global events, occurring every five years, and serves as a platform for cultural exchange and showcasing innovations and sustainable development initiatives.
