Baghdad: Ahmed Talib Al-Dafai, advisor to the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, confirmed that the elections will be held on schedule on November 11 of this year. Al-Dafai stated that despite the significant tensions occurring in the region, the election date will not be changed, and these tensions will not affect the work of the Independent High Electoral Commission.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Dafai emphasized that all countries in the region are affected by the tensions and are seeking to end them to prevent further spread. However, he assured that these tensions will not impact the course of the Iraqi elections, which are set to proceed as planned.

Al-Dafai also highlighted that the foreign policy pursued by the Iraqi government aims to preserve the country’s sovereignty and prevent Iraq from becoming a base for targeting other countries in the region. This policy was reiterated at the recent Ministerial Security Council session.
