New York: Oil prices rose more than 2.5 percent at settlement on Thursday. Brent crude futures increased by $2.15, or 2.8 percent, reaching a settlement price of $78.85 per barrel.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, US West Texas Intermediate crude also saw a significant rise, climbing $2.06, or 2.7 percent, to settle at $77.20 per barrel.
