Algerian Ambassador Asserts Lack of IAEA Safeguards on Israeli Nuclear Facilities

New York: Algerian Ambassador to the Security Council, Amar Benjamaa, confirmed on Friday that Israel’s nuclear facilities have never been placed under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during an emergency Security Council session focused on the repercussions of the ongoing war between Iran and what was referred to as the Zionist entity, Ambassador Benjamaa highlighted the absence of IAEA oversight on Israel’s nuclear capabilities. He stated, “Israel’s nuclear facilities have never been placed under IAEA safeguards, and the Security Council has never been informed of any reports.”

Ambassador Benjamaa further emphasized the significance of diplomatic efforts, noting, “the negotiations between European countries and Iran, as well as the US-Iranian negotiations regarding the Iranian nuclear program, remain a constructive option.”
