Kirkuk: The head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, Mohammed Semaan Agha, who also leads the United Iraqi Turkmen Front list, welcomed the head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Mohammed Al-Hassan, during his visit to Kirkuk. The meeting involved vice presidents of the Front, members of the Political Bureau, and Turkmen members of the Kirkuk Provincial Council.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Agha emphasized the significance of such visits in fostering understanding and dialogue concerning the province’s situation. The discussions covered various mutual interests, focusing on UNAMI’s role in supporting Iraq.

Agha provided an extensive overview of the Turkmen community’s situation in Iraq, underscoring the challenges they encounter and the necessity for continued international backing for Turkmen rights and equitable participation in state governance. He also commended UNAMI’s constructive role during its mission in Iraq, especially in endorsing dialogue and coexistence, and noted the nearing conclusion of the mission’s mandate.

Both parties highlighted the need for ongoing cooperation and joint efforts between Iraqi entities and the international community to promote societal peace and stability within the country and the region.
