Baghdad: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf announced on Monday the suspension of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a parliamentary session held on Monday, Qalibaf emphasized the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, adding, “We have no intention of engaging in non-peaceful activities, but the IAEA has failed to fulfill its obligations and has become a political tool.”

He indicated that the proposed legislation aims to suspend cooperation with the agency unless Tehran obtains practical guarantees of professional and objective behavior from the UN agency.

Qalibaf’s statements come after the US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, which Tehran described as direct involvement in the war after Israel failed to achieve its objectives.

The Iranian parliament speaker added that Tehran reserves the right to respond, saying that an Iranian response would make Trump regret this hostile adventure.
