Istanbul: The 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) concluded in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 22, 2025. The session was held from June 21 to 22, with the participation of delegations from member states.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that the Iraqi delegation to this session was headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein.

The closing session witnessed the adoption of the “Istanbul Declaration,” which included Iraq’s proposals, most notably its strong condemnation of the policies pursued by the Israeli entity to destabilize the region, including its recent attacks on Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, which constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of these countries. This proposal was previously put forward by Iraq during the emergency meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers.

Another proposal submitted by Baghdad was also approved, calling for the formation of a
n open-ended joint committee of OIC member states, tasked with activating dialogue and working to de-escalate tensions in the region.

This initiative came as part of the outcomes of the emergency Arab meeting recently called for by Iraq.
