Baghdad: An Iraqi student, Girgis Alaa, from the Gifted School in Nineveh, has achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for the final stage of the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad set to take place in 2025 in the United Arab Emirates. Alaa will represent Iraq as part of a national team that includes top-performing students.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Education's media office announced in a press release that this qualification highlights the excellence of Iraqi students in international scientific arenas. The competition will see the participation of more than 360 students from 90 countries.

The statement also highlighted the Minister of Education's support for talented students, acknowledging their role in enhancing Iraq's standing in the fields of talent and potential, both on a local and global scale.
