Gaza: The United Nations Human Rights Office announced on Friday that at least 798 people have been killed while trying to obtain food aid in the Gaza Strip since late May.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a spokesperson for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights reported in a briefing to reporters that 615 of the victims were killed in the vicinity of sites affiliated with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation since May 27. An additional 183 individuals lost their lives along routes leading to supply convoys.

The office further explained that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation relies on private American security and logistics companies to deliver aid, largely bypassing the UN-led system for delivering aid to the Strip. This situation has raised concerns about relief distribution mechanisms and the lack of adequate humanitarian safeguards.
