Baghdad: The Anti-Terrorism Service signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Migration and Displacement to rehabilitate and integrate returnees from displacement camps in Syria.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agreement was formalized under the joint sponsorship of the head of the Anti-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Karim Al-Tamimi, and the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro. The memorandum focuses on coordinating rehabilitation and social reintegration operations for individuals returning from displacement camps in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The memorandum outlines mutual commitments between the Anti-Terrorism Service and the Ministry of Migration and Displacement. These include the exchange of information and joint coordination in the preparation and implementation of rehabilitation programs. The objective is to ensure the safe and disciplined integration of returnees into their communities of origin, particularly in governorates that have experienced previous conflicts.

During the signing ceremony, both parties highlighted that this initiative serves as an effective model for collaboration between security and humanitarian institutions. It aims to address the challenges faced by returnees, ensuring sustainable security and social cohesion while contributing to the prevention of extremism resurgence.

This cooperation is part of a broader strategic vision by the Counter-Terrorism Service. The strategy seeks to support stabilization efforts and prevent the re-recruitment of individuals by terrorist groups by addressing the root causes of extremism and enhancing reintegration opportunities for citizens affected by displacement.
