Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed on Saturday that Iran’s nuclear program cannot be eliminated through military attacks, stressing that science and technology ‘cannot be erased by bombs,’ and that his country remains committed to its peaceful nuclear achievements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araghchi spoke during a meeting with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in Tehran, reiterating Iran’s adherence to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and its safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He emphasized that the country’s nuclear program will remain peaceful.

Araghchi addressed the recent attacks targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, stating that the damage extended beyond infrastructure and affected international law and the non-proliferation regime itself. He noted that more than 120 countries condemned the assaults, while the IAEA Board of Governors refrained from issuing any official condemnation.

He further explained that cooperation with the IAEA would continue but would henceforth be managed through Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, with any agency requests subject to strict security assessments.

Regarding nuclear negotiations, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that Tehran remains open to dialogue but requires serious guarantees to prevent the recurrence of such attacks before entering any new talks. He accused the United States of ‘betraying diplomacy’ through its direct involvement in the recent operations.

Araghchi also reaffirmed Iran’s categorical refusal to negotiate over its military and defensive capabilities, stating that any future negotiations would be limited solely to nuclear issues.
