Baghdad: The Security Media Cell announced the detention of a security force after a suspect was injured while performing a duty, pending the completion of the investigation into the incident.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Cell stated in a statement: "A detachment from the Rapid Response Division carried out a security operation this afternoon, Tuesday, with approval from Baghdad Operations to carry out a duty in the Sabaa al-Bour/al-Bassam/al-Halabsa area, to arrest the suspect (Qaisar Sanitan Khashman Hilal). During this operation, gunfire erupted, resulting in the suspect being injured and being transferred to the hospital."
It added: "In light of the follow-up and directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, an investigative committee was formed to investigate the circumstances of the incident, the approvals related to the departure of this force, the details and validity of the arrest warrant, and the extent of compliance with the rules of engagement in accordance with established procedures."
It explained that: "The commander and members of this force were detained and impounded until all investigations and the work and recommendations of the investigative committee are completed."
