Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France has decided to officially recognize the State of Palestine. Macron made this declaration, stating that he will formally announce the decision before the United Nations General Assembly next September as part of France's historic commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Macron emphasized the urgent need to end the conflict in Gaza and protect civilians. He called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all prisoners, and significant humanitarian assistance for the people of Gaza. He also stressed the necessity of disarming Hamas, securing, and rebuilding Gaza, and establishing the State of Palestine. Macron asserted that the recognition of Palestine and its acceptance of disarmament and full recognition of Israel would contribute to the security of the entire Middle East.
Macron noted his communication with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, expressing his determination to proceed with the recognition of the State of Palestine.
