Basra: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani concluded his visit to Basra Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the visit included the launching of several vital infrastructure projects and the inauguration of completed ones aimed at enhancing the region's development.

The visit marked the commencement of the strategic seawater desalination plant project, with a capacity of 1 million cubic meters per day, intended to address the region's water scarcity issues. Al-Sudani also inaugurated an 825-meter suspension bridge linking the Airport Expressway and the Sports City, aimed at improving transportation links.

Further, the Prime Minister initiated the implementation work for an 89-km Ring Road project to enhance connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in Basra. The opening of the Umm Qasr Water Project, boasting a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters per hour, signifies a step forward in meeting the area's water supply needs.

Additionally, Al-Sudani opened a dry gas unit within the Basra Natural Gas Liquefaction Plant project, designed to process 200 million cubic feet per day, and the Central Gas Processing Plant in the Al-Faihaa oil field, with a capacity of 130 million cubic meters per day. These projects are expected to bolster the region's energy sector.

The visit also included the launch of the "Shams Basra" solar power plant project, reflecting a commitment to renewable energy sources. Prime Minister al-Sudani concluded his visit by paying respects at the home of the late Islamic preacher Sayyid Abu Aqil al-Musawi, underscoring his connection to the community.
