Baghdad: The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee confirmed that “passing the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law in Parliament depends on political consensus among the blocs.” Committee member MP Yasser Iskandar Watout told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “After the second reading of the draft PMF law was completed, the law is now awaiting agreement by the political blocs in Parliament to enact it, despite the presence of reservations from some political blocs.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Watout pointed out that “the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee has several important laws awaiting enactment, the most important of which is the Internal Security Forces Retirement Law, which only needs to be voted on in the House of Representatives to support the Ministry of Interior personnel.”
