Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a suspect accused of stealing 80 million dinars and the recovery of the amount in record time in the Rusafa district of Baghdad. A statement by the Baghdad Police Command revealed the swift action by the New Baghdad Police Department, which is part of the Baghdad-Rusafa Police Command.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the suspect was apprehended after a citizen reported a robbery incident. The complainant informed the New Baghdad Police Patrols that his car window was smashed near the Amanat Bridge in the New Baghdad area, leading to the theft. Security forces immediately launched an investigation, identifying and tracking the suspect in collaboration with the victim.

The Command further reported that its detachments managed to arrest the suspect while he was riding a motorcycle. The stolen amount was recovered, and the suspect was handed over to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
