Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior has firmly denied allegations of arms smuggling operations across the Iraqi-Syrian border, emphasizing that the border is secured by strong and integrated units.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry issued a statement in response to recent claims aired on a television program on a satellite channel, which alleged the existence of arms smuggling activities across the border. The Ministry categorically dismissed these claims as baseless, asserting that they lack any realistic evidence.

The Ministry's statement further detailed that the Iraqi-Syrian border is safeguarded by a combination of solid fortifications and an advanced surveillance system. These measures are reinforced by coordinated field and intelligence efforts conducted by the Border Forces Command. As a result, the Ministry assured that there is complete control over the border area, preventing any security breaches or threats to the country's sovereignty. The statement also clarified that no cases of infiltration or smuggling from the Syrian border have been reported by competent security authorities in recent times.
