Diyarbakir: Several Turkish cities witnessed protest marches last night against the genocidal crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip. Thousands of Turks gathered in the cities of Diyarbakir and Siirt, southeastern Turkey, to protest the heinous crimes and starvation tactics practiced by Israel against the Palestinians in Gaza, which have claimed thousands of victims without the human conscience being moved to stand up against the perpetrators of these massacres.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the participants in these marches expressed their absolute solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of the US-backed Israeli aggression, calling on the United Nations to adhere to its principles and the basis of its work in deterring aggression, standing with the oppressed and upholding justice, rather than standing idly by and appeasing the aggressor. The participants in the marches raised Palestinian flags alongside Turkish flags and banners denouncing the US policy biased toward the Zionist entity, chanting slogans against Israel and the United States.
In a statement, the head of the Diyarbakir branch of the Public Sector Employees Union, Ramazan Takdemir, emphasized that their participation in these marches is aimed at “standing firm in the face of oppressors and pushing countries to take action to stop the brutal attacks targeting children, women, sick and innocent civilians in Gaza.” He said, “The famine occurring in Gaza is being used as a weapon of genocide by the occupying entity. One in three people in Gaza lack food.”
In Siirt, the “Akhbar al-Rasul Association” organized a protest march denouncing the war of extermination in Gaza. Participants held up a banner reading “Be a light from Siirt to Gaza,” chanting anti-Israel slogans and waving Palestinian flags.
Yesterday, Sunday afternoon, Istanbul witnessed a protest march organized by the Islamic Solidarity Platform in front of the US Consulate General in Istanbul to denounce the genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza with US support. The Islamic Solidarity Platform includes several associations and endowments in Turkey, most notably the €“zgr-Der Association and the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH). The demonstrators held up banners reading, “Your oppressive empire, which even Hitler admires, will collapse” and “Deliberately starving children is a heinous war crime.” They also chanted slogans such as, “Criminal America, murderous Israel,” “The Al-Aqsa Flood will defeat Zionism,” and “Criminal United States, leave the Middle East.”
