Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani announced that Iraq has been removed from the upcoming United Nations report on child protection, following significant progress in safeguarding children’s rights, according to a statement from his media office.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani commended the joint efforts of the relevant state institutions, particularly the Ministries of Labor and Social Affairs and Foreign Affairs, for their role in enhancing child protection and reducing violations through effective governmental measures.

He noted that these efforts have led to a recommendation by the UN Secretary-General to exclude Iraq from the upcoming report, citing tangible improvements and the implementation of legal measures to prevent violations against children-an achievement confirmed by official UN testimonies.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of continuing this work, urging all concerned bodies to persist in addressing past violations and establishing a safe and healthy environment for children. This, he emphasized, is vital for ensuring proper development, legal protection, and strengthening Iraq’s international standing in human rights and child welfare.
