According to National Iraqi News Agency, an official statement was issued following the Council’s eleventh session, presided over by Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Cassation, Dr. Faiq Zidan. The Council clarified its position on Article (11/Second/4) of Law No. (10) of 2024, which amends the Penal Code No. 111 of 1969.

The session focused on whether legal procedures against MPs require prior approval or the lifting of immunity, in accordance with Article (63) of the Constitution. The Council concluded that the existence of immunity does not permanently prevent legal action and that such procedures can proceed once the MP’s membership ends for any reason.

During the session, several judges and public prosecutors were promoted, and judicial positions were reassigned based on institutional needs.

The Council also announced a five-day suspension of official work at the Courts of Appeal in Najaf and Karbala, from Sunday, August 10, 2025, through Thursday, August 14, 2025, in observance of the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
