Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, during which they discussed upcoming talks with US President Donald Trump. The conversation also touched upon topics of mutual interest and cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a Kremlin statement revealed that President Putin congratulated Kim Jong-un on the upcoming National Day, marking the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonialism, celebrated on August 15. Kim Jong-un expressed North Korea’s view of this holiday as a shared celebration, acknowledging the Red Army’s contribution in the fight against invaders.
The Kremlin statement also highlighted the commitment of both leaders to further develop friendly relations and cooperation in all areas. This commitment aligns with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Russia and North Korea, concluded on June 19, 2024, in Pyongyang.
During the call, President Putin shared information with Kim Jong-un regarding the upcoming discussions with US President Donald Trump. Both leaders agreed to maintain communication to support their strategic interests.
