Amman: Syria, Jordan, and the United States have reached an agreement to establish a trilateral working group aimed at consolidating the ceasefire in Sweida and addressing the ongoing crisis in Syria.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agreement was cemented during a meeting held in Amman, attended by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barak. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation among the three countries to ensure Syria’s stability and sovereignty, while also emphasizing the importance of humanitarian efforts, restoration of services, and facilitating the return of displaced persons.

The meeting participants reaffirmed Sweida’s status as part of Syria and stressed the necessity of safeguarding the rights of its residents. They also highlighted the importance of investigating violations, enhancing aid, and rehabilitating areas affected by the conflict. This meeting follows a series of discussions initiated last July after clashes in Sweida, the intervention of the Syrian army, and Israel’s targeting of Syrian vehicles.
