Brussels: The European Union has called on Israel to allow the passage of all humanitarian aid shipments to Gaza. European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas expressed her deep concern on Tuesday over the new restrictions imposed by Israel on the work of non-governmental organizations in the Gaza Strip. She stressed, via her account on the “X” platform, that these restrictions will exacerbate the catastrophic humanitarian conditions currently being experienced by Palestinians in Gaza.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kallas urged Israeli authorities to facilitate the passage of humanitarian aid provided by international non-governmental organizations and to lift any barriers hindering essential humanitarian operations, ensuring support reaches those in need in the Strip. Kallas had previously warned that the Israeli conflict in Gaza was escalating in danger, emphasizing that a military solution was not viable.

Kallas also condemned the killing of Al Jazeera journalists in an airstrike outside Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, including reporter Anas Al Sharif. She stated, “The European Union strongly condemns attacks on journalists and press freedom.” Israel is facing growing international condemnation following the airstrike near Gaza’s largest hospital, which resulted in the deaths of six Palestinian journalists, including two veteran Al Jazeera correspondents. Gaza authorities and press freedom groups have described this as a deliberate attempt to silence media reporting ahead of a planned full occupation of Gaza City.
