Baghdad: The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, stressed the importance of protecting Iraqi youth from the dangers of drugs and terrorism, emphasizing that empowering them is a national duty and a shared responsibility between the state and society.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement marking International Youth Day, al-Hakim expressed pride in this vital segment of society, describing them as the present and future, and the backbone of Iraq’s development and progress. He noted that youth are the country’s true wealth, which must be invested in through education, training, job opportunities, and enabling them to actively participate in decision-making and policy development.

Al-Hakim called for confronting threats to young people, including drugs, terrorism, and organized crime, through strict legislation, intensified awareness programs, and strengthening the role of the family, schools, and cultural and media institutions in instilling national and ethical values.

He also urged the launch of developmental, cultural, and sports projects for youth to harness their creative energy, channel it toward serving society, and protect them from destructive ideas and behavioral deviations.

Al-Hakim concluded: ‘Empowering youth is the foundation for building a strong, prosperous, and safe Iraq for all.’
