Baghdad: South Korea’s presidential office announced on Tuesday that President Lee Jae-myung and US President Donald Trump will hold their first summit in Washington on August 25 to discuss security issues and cooperation in advanced industries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, presidential spokeswoman Kang Yoo-jung stated that President Lee will leave the country on August 24 for a three-day visit to the United States, marking his first visit since taking office last June.

Kang explained that the two presidents plan to strengthen the South Korea-US alliance into a comprehensive, future-oriented strategic alliance, in line with the changes in the international and regional security and economic environment.

She added that the discussions will include industrial cooperation in the fields of semiconductors, batteries, and shipbuilding, based on the trade agreement signed between the two countries earlier this month.
