Queensland: An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck today near Queensland, eastern Australia.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre stated in a statement that the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers. The tremors caused houses to shake, but there were no immediate reports of human or material losses.

It is worth noting that Australia records an average of 100 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or greater annually, and about seven earthquakes of magnitude 4 or greater each year within a 300-kilometer radius of its coast. The number of such earthquakes in 2024 reached about 11, the strongest of which was 4.8 magnitude.
