Maysan: An Iraqi security source in Maysan province announced on Friday the killing of a drug dealer during an armed clash with a joint force from the Anti-Narcotics Department and the Tactical Regiment in Al-Azair district, south of the province.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the security force was carrying out an operation to arrest the suspect when he opened fire, prompting the force to retaliate, which resulted in his killing at the scene.

The source added that the operation led to the seizure of three kilograms of narcotic substances in the dealer’s possession, noting that his body was transferred to Al-Hakim Hospital.

He pointed out that a special tactical unit imposed a tight security cordon around the hospital as a precaution, stressing that security efforts will continue to pursue drug dealers and traffickers in order to preserve the province’s safety and stability.
