Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani expressed appreciation for the efforts of service and security forces, local government, and holy shrines in ensuring the success of the visit commemorating the death of the Great Prophet (PBUH) in Najaf.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Office released a statement highlighting al-Sudani’s visit to the Joint Operations Command headquarters in Baghdad. He monitored the implementation of the plan for the Najaf visit, marking the death anniversary of the Great Prophet (PBUH), in the presence of the Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations and several security leaders.

Al-Sudani conducted a videoconference meeting with several high-ranking officials, including the head of the Supreme Security Committee for Millions of Pilgrimages, the Minister of Interior, and the Governor of Najaf. The meeting also included leaders and officials from security, military, and service formations, along with representatives from the holy shrines.

He acknowledged the collective efforts of all service, administrative, and security formations, as well as those of local government employees in Najaf and the holy shrines. Al-Sudani noted the successful provision of services to millions of pilgrims, both from within Iraq and abroad, by adopting advanced work mechanisms.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of coordination among security services to confront individuals attempting to incite discord. He called for continuous development beyond traditional practices and directed the facilitation of the reverse delegation’s flow and the preparation of a report post-pilgrimage to address potential weaknesses.

Al-Sudani also highlighted Najaf Governorate’s esteemed status in the Islamic world and its cultural and heritage significance, urging federal and local governments to enhance infrastructure and service projects in the region.
