Tehran: Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh has disclosed that Iran has developed industrial infrastructure in the defense sector in some foreign countries, highlighting Tehran’s strides towards self-sufficiency in defense equipment manufacturing.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Nasirzadeh, in an interview with Iranian television, mentioned that factory buildings have been constructed abroad, with official openings and announcements expected soon. This development, he stated, signifies global confidence in Iran’s defense capabilities and reflects a growing demand for Iran’s defense products, particularly in the drone sector.

Nasirzadeh further explained the strategic approach behind the expansion, noting that it is sometimes not economically viable to establish large production facilities domestically for specific parts or equipment. Instead, these needs are addressed through alternative methods, potentially involving international locations.

Despite these international ventures, the Defense Minister emphasized the critical importance of relying on local capabilities for the armed forces. He highlighted that during crises, external sources may not fulfill immediate needs, underscoring the necessity for Iran to develop and maintain all essential infrastructure domestically. This approach ensures the production, storage, and provision of equipment align with the contemporary requirements of Iran’s armed forces.
