New york: Palestine has issued an urgent appeal to the international community through three identical letters sent to the United Nations. These letters were addressed to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council for this month, Panama, and the President of the UN General Assembly. They call for immediate intervention to halt what Palestine describes as genocide in the Gaza Strip and the widespread destruction of Palestinian territories, including a plea for deploying an international protection force for the Palestinian populace.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, highlighted the existential threat faced by a million Palestinians as Israeli plans to invade Gaza continue unabated. Mansour emphasized that the lack of international response has enabled Israel to persist in its illegal blockade of humanitarian aid, exacerbating famine and disease in Gaza. He referred to a report from the Inte
rnational Classification of Food Insecurity that officially declared a famine in Gaza, and a MedGlobal report that showed acute malnutrition among children has surged by 914% since the blockade began in March.

Mansour further condemned the ongoing targeting of humanitarian workers and journalists by Israeli forces, with the death toll among Palestinians reaching 62,122, including children, women, and men. He called for urgent action from the Security Council to protect civilians and address the dire situation threatening international peace and security. Mansour stressed the need for countries to exert pressure on Israel to cease its actions in Gaza, advocating for measures such as arms embargoes, sanctions, and diplomatic recognition of the State of Palestine to support Palestinian self-determination and independence.
