Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized that the House of Representatives’ approval of the ambassadors list will enhance the diplomatic institution’s ability to perform its role constitutionally and legally.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani acknowledged the significance of the House of Representatives’ vote on the ambassadors list during its recent session. He commended the cooperative spirit exhibited by the House Presidency, the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, and political forces in resolving this issue that has remained unaddressed since 2009.

The Prime Minister underscored the necessity for ambassadors to fulfill their duties effectively in representing Iraq on the international stage, safeguarding its interests, and supporting Iraqi citizens in the countries where they will be stationed.

He highlighted the government’s determination to fill long-standing diplomatic vacancies, which aligns with the broader administrative reforms outlined in the government’s ministerial program. Al-Sudani asserted that this step will undoubtedly strengthen the diplomatic institution’s capacity to execute its constitutional and legal roles, ultimately benefiting the citizens of Iraq.
